EU Patent Reform: The “forgotten” documents of the Preparatory Committee of the Unified Patent Court (Published on 14/03/2023, latest update on 05/01/2024)
Those who have been following the history of the European patent reform for a longer time know that after signing the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court in February 2012, the so-called “Preparatory Committee of the Unified Patent Court” (“PC-UPC”) was created to establish the working capacity of the court (cf. Commission document 7265/13). It commenced its work at the beginning of 2013.
Since then, the Committee published at www.unified-patent-court.org information, documents and news it considered relevant as regards the Unified Patent Court (“UPC”) , so that an interesting public documentation of the eventful history of the UPC developed there over the years.
This documentation of the numerous errors, confusions and contradictions in the establishment of the UPC was apparently not considered useful by everyone, so that almost all older publications recently disappeared from the UPC website following a so-called “relaunch”; only a few selected documents that were apparently considered useful were left online.
Most of the publications made on www.unified-patent-court.org since 2013 have been documented and archived here to ensure the future availability and usability of this information. The archived content is made available to the public on this page.
